The one in Littleton has been there for many years. Even when I was living there. Used it all the time. But then things were reletavely safer. I would be a bit wary using it now. Sounds unsafe.

Its a lot more unsafe than blowing them up for money, unless you have an airbag and are driving an S-Class. Alternatively, they could just make drive-home ATMs, which will be more convenient.
