As Shisstirrer says, the only reason would be to protect myself from the frikking foul breath that gets shoved into my face in a shopping centre.

The patients in hospitals should. And I mean expensive, private hospitals. I am increasingly hearing of people going in to hospital for minor procedures, and ending up dying from some deadly (obviously) bacteria or virus.

Technically they are only beneficial for about 30 mins. Thereafter the moisture produced from breathing creates the perfect breeding ground for virii and the chances of becoming infected are far greater.

No. If people just followed general and simple health practices, like sneezing and coughing into a tissue or something and taking vitamins (you can get really cheap vitamins) and get an education/ educate themselves regarding health then people wouldn't be so paranoid and scared to be in public without some sort of protection.
