Was the Xmas tree hijacked by early Christians ?

Now Christians in the states are in uproar because they want to stop calling it an Xmas tree and instead call it a holiday tree. Read your history. The Christmas tree is ancient pagan culture from Germany and had nothing to do with Christianity . Ever seen Jesus standing under an Xmas tree in any painting? Lol http://m.news24.com/news24/World/News/Tree-name-ignites-controversy-in-US-20111206 As far as I am concerned early Christians were a common lot who stole from another religion 17 mths ago

Most of the so called Christian traditions were in fact hijacked from the early pagans. As when the Church came into power they had to try and convince the ordinary folk of Christianity and Jesus so they took all their festivals (Easter, May Day, Christmas etc etc) and gave them other names so that they pagans would "convert" to Christianity. The power of the church!! (sad really).
